Tamara Berg and Luis Ortiz have received NSF CAREER awards

The Faculty Early Career Development (CAREER) Program is a Foundation-wide activity that offers the National Science Foundation's most prestigious awards in support of junior faculty who exemplify the role of teacher-scholars through outstanding research, excellent education and the integration of education and research within the context of the mission of their organizations.
Tamara Berg and Luis Ortiz are both Assistant Professors in the computer science department. Dr Berg's main research area is Digital Media, specifically focused on organizing large collections of images with associated text through the use of techniques from Natural Language Processing and Computer Vision. Dr Ortiz' main areas of research are artificial intelligence and machine learning, with particular emphasis on the study of graphical models and their extensions to game theory and economics.
