Ryan Walsh Undergraduate ISE, Information Systems, 2012,
I'm currently a senior studying for a BS in Information Systems. The education at Stony Brook has made me resourceful for finding solutions to problems and applying the concepts to technology. I am currently assisting Prof. Zadok at the File systems and Storage Lab. I would recommend Stony Brook to others because of the talented professors and staff that continuously motivate you to learn new technologies and provide a platform to execute them.
For some of my projects, I used a product called The Emotiv Epoc (http://www.emotiv.com/apps/epoc/299/). With this product you’re able to execute up to 5 distinguished actions based on calibrated cognitive thoughts. Using the program MaxMSP, a programmable Arduino microcontroller, and a servo motor, I was able to rotate the motor using a calibrated action. Further details are available here http://www.stonybrook.edu/sb/features-devicenight.shtml. The article also has a video of how I have used the headset.

Khandoker Z Alam Undergraduate CS Program, Graduated 2000
I transferred to Stony Brook from a CUNY college after completing my AS in Computer Science. I always wanted to be software professional and for a former citizen of a third world country US degree was a highly valued achievement. Attending college in US as a foreign student was especially tough for me because of higher tuitions, language and cultural barrier. I have chosen Stony Brook for its reputation, location and reasonable cost of education.
Stony Brook was a really wonderful learning experience for me because of its highly challenging curriculums and research facility. I like challenges and discipline which is the driving force behind almost all my achievements. Professors were really helpful, professional and they were open to new ideas. Read More Collapse I believe college is for grownups and its main purpose is to provide a good platform, motivation and guidance for achieving individual goals. Lot depends on individuals and how effectively they use these available services. I believe Stony Brook provided me what I needed to succeed in my career.
I secured my first professional job with Accenture LLP.; among the largest Software Consulting Firm in the world one semester before my graduation with a very attractive salary and now a Chief for Information Technology with Anabase International Corporation.

Maggie Wu Undergraduate CSE, Computer Science, 2010,
I transferred from Northwestern Polytechnical University in China to Stony Brook University in my sophomore year. I was attracted by Stony Brook University's undergraduate CSE program. Stony Brook University is full of opportunities and professors there are always willing to help you. I am currently working in CA Technologies as a software engineer. I completed the undergraduate CS program in less than three years, but yet I learned a lot, met a lot of intelligent people and significantly improved my English as a foreign student. Thank you, Stony Brook.

Claude Castille
Undergraduate CS Program, Graduated December 2009
I'm living in San Jose and working for Google out of Mountain View. Right now they have me on the Google Groups team and I'll be on that project for about 18 months before I'll have a choice to move. Doubt I will though. I work with a good bunch of guys, the work's challenging, and the perks are amazing, so I have no complaints. I already have a little bit of code running in production (a few small bugs that I fixed that you wouldn't notice unless you looked), but hoping to do bigger and better things when I understand the infrastructure a little more.
