The Computer Science major provides professional education in computer science to prepare the student for graduate study or for a career in the computing field. Students learn concepts and skills needed for designing, programming, and applying computer systems while also learning the theoretical and mathematical foundations of computer science.

Students have sufficient freedom in the program to pursue other academic interests in the liberal arts, sciences, and engineering to complement their study of computer science. Many students use the flexibility of the program to satisfy the requirements of a second major for the bachelor's degree.

Beginning Spring 2007 the department will be offering students an option to choose Computer Science as Minor in their undergraduate program of study. For eligibility, please refer to the Official Bulletin for students interested in Computer Science Minor in B.S.
