CSE 110 Fall 2009 Instructions for handing in Assignments For this course, we will have programming assignments, handwritten homeworks, and online exercises called CodeLab. CodeLab is different from scheduled Labs in room CS 2129. It is required that every student submit an electronic copy of his/her programming assignment, before its due date and time. These assign- ments will we discussed during our scheduled lab-hours in room CS 2129. Handwritten or typed homework is to be handed in class on the due date. CodeLab assignments are to be done online before the due date. PROGRAMMING ASSIGNMENTS (Java): After you are done with your Java program submit an electronic copy to cse110 account on sparky. First change your working directory to one that has your program. Make sure that the program you want to hand in has your name, id number, and section number, right at the begin- ning of your file (as a comment). Before submitting try and run your program on sparky. This is because TAs are going to run this on sparky and grade it. DO NOT MAIL your program to cse110 account on sparky. Nobody reads mail sent to that account. IMPORTANT: If you are using your PC to do your assignments, first copy/ftp your program to your account on sparky. Make sure that you retain all indentation. Some points are reserved for that. FOR SUBMISSION, execute ~cse110/submit command to hand in your program electronically. The submit command will ask for your lab-section number. It will also display valid section numbers. Next, it will ask for file-name of your program. This should be a file with .java as its extension. Type ./file-name (including .java) as your response. Your program will then be copied to a directory in the cse110 class account under your name. If you submit more than once, only the last copy will be retained. If your submission is success- ful, then you will get an acknowledgement right away. COMMENTS: (1) If you are having any problems with submit command, and decide not to submit your program or home work then at least do not touch the file after the due date and time. You can always show the time stamp on your program file to TA and then TA will copy your files to class account. This requires that you have a copy on sparky. (2) You must submit electronically from sparky. If you fail to do so and you do not have any valid reason to explain why, you will lose most points. DO NOT MAIL YOUR FILES FROM YOUR PC, or some other
