STATEMENT A number of TOTALLY UNFOUNDED RUMORS have circulated among students regarding alleged cheating that occurred during this semester’s midterm examination. Under normal circumstances, matters concerning academic dishonesty are handled within the department and are not revealed to the general student population. However, since these rumors suggest dishonest behavior on the part of the teaching staff, I prepared the following statement explaining the events that actually took place. Four students collaborated during the midterm examination and were subsequently charged with cheating. During our investigation (and in accordance with SUNY policy) we graded and returned the four students’ exams without penalty. Ultimately, all four students admitted their guilt and accepted an appropriate punishment. At no time was the midterm examination made available to students before the administration of the actual exam. Professor Anita Wasilewska |
