NEW FEATURES

TPPT is implemented in Java 1.2 platform and old version based on Sybase, so it only accepts Sybase-compatible user applications coded in Java.  Version 2.0 has been improved, and the following are the new features.

• Multi-Database Support. Support Sybase and DB2, and it is easy to extend the tool to support different DBMS, ex:ORACLE or MSSQL.

• Two Phase Commit Tool has been embedded in the TPPT tool. The Two Phase Commit Tool is a tool that simulate the two-phase commit environment. It will perform the two phase commit protocol in the distributed transaction and validate the implementation of Transaction Manager and Application Program(s) user provided.

• Implement the new lock/unlock mechanism for the Sybase Single-user mode.
• Run from Home - Experiment can run from home.
• The Transaction Java Class can be loaded at the runtime.
• Use XML format configuration files.
• Migrate the system  to invoke through Java Web Start for easier maintenance.
• Change the codes to satisfy the OO design
• New document is provided. (included javadoc API, UML diagram and detailed design document)
• Fix several GUI bugs.
