Software
Copyrights and Patents Abstract: This talk will discuss
the historical, economic, and legal background of what are now known as
"intellectual property rights" as they apply to computer software. We
will also examine how Free Software and Open Source Software work in
this arena. Bio: Robert Dewar is a Professor of
Computer Science at New York University. He has been qualified as an
expert witness in several federal trials relating to copyright and
patent issues, and is also President and CEO of Ada Core Technologies, a
company whose products are all licensed as Free Software. |
