Prof. Kifer got his M.S. in Mathematics from Moscow University, Russia in 1976. He got his Ph.D. in Computer Scince from Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Israel. His brief donutview below tells more about him. After a long time, we would see Bagels in donut hour today. Prof. Kifer sent me a url to a nice article on history of bagels. Those interested in history can go to the following website: http://www.princeton.edu/~eclectic/fall95/reporter/bagel.html And those interested in eating can come to the pit. sincerely, Donut Admin Looking through the Donut: A Donut view with prof. Michael Kifer ---------------------------------------------------------------- DA: I saw on your homepage that you have written a sub-package named Viper for emacs. What prompted you to take time out of research and do such a thing? MK: I hate doing routine work, so I am trying to automate it whenever I can. Of course, time spent on automation is never recovered through savings on routine stuff, but at least I get thanks from a lot of users (and who would thank you for wasting time doing routine stuff?). DA: What are your non-academic interests? Hobbies? MK: I am trying to not enslave myself to a particular hobby. I like to travel, read about history... DA: Introduce us to your family. MK: My wife's name is Lora. I have two daughters, Avigail and Emily, both in junior high. My son, Daniel, just graduated from NYU. He is working in Mannhattan and is hoping to go to a grad school this Fall. DA: What is your favourite food? MK: I eat everything as long as it looks good and doesn't move. DA: Thank you.
