CSE502 Research Project Requirements for Spring 2010. If you and a partner intend to submit a research project for CSE502 Spring'10, I need a 1- to 2-page project plan emailed to me by Sunday 2/28/10. Your plan should provide: 1) a short title for your project, 2) the names and email addresses for both partners, 3) the date your document was last revised, 4) your project goal (what you hope to achieve), 5) what technology is involved, 6) how you will attempt to perform the work for the project, 7) how long you think it will take you to finish what you plan, and 8) how you will evaluate how well you have satisfied your goals once the project is completed. If I see any problems with your plan, I will ask you both to talk with me. Once I am satisfied with your plan, I will issue an official project number. You will need to email me a 1/2 to 1-page project progress report every Monday. Your email will need to include "cse502", "project", and your project number on the Subject: line. All emails about your project should contain the email address of both parthers in the project. To finish your project you will need to submit a 8- to 20-page final report copiously seasoned with tables, graphs, and figures in addition to the text, plus slides for a 15 minute class presentation, given the last week of school. The final report should restate the points of your original plan, give the results of your work, discuss the meaning of your results, and evaluate how well you have achieved your original project goals. It should discuss any addition work that could improve the project and include access links to all your report files; your data for all figures, tables, and graphs; and the source and binary files for all software involved in your project. I may edit these reporting specifications after I see your plans and progress reports. Larry Thur, 21 January 2010
