Symbol Technologies is best known for their scanner product, but during the last five years their portable terminal and radio network business has grown significantly, and it is now surpassing in volume the scanner part. Thus the company is heavily involved in management information systems and networks, technologies that rely on areas of computer science different from the areas that have supported scanner technology. This talk will discuss the interests that Symbol has in these areas other than scanner technology.
