Professional Information
I joined the department in August 2004. Prior to that, I received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Cognitive Science from the University of Rochester (1997), a Master of Science degree in Computer Science from Hofstra University (2000), and an M.C.S. (Master of Computer Science) degree from the University of Virginia (2003).
My research interests include, but are not limited to, software engineering (specifically the application of formal methods), computer science education, databases and privacy, and biologically-inspired computing.
Classes Taught
This semester (Fall 2006), I teach CSE 110 (Introduction to Computer Science), CSE 114 (Computer Science I), and CSE/ISE 308 (Software Engineering).
Office Hours
Fall 2006 office hours: Tuesdays and Thursdays, 3-5 PM, and by appointment, in Computer Science 1402
About Me
When I’m not at work, I like to spend my time reading (my favorite authors include Barry Hughart, Steven Saylor, Neal Stephenson, and Rex Stout), watching science-fiction (especially "Stargate: SG-1") and anime, and playing with my kittens, Lois and Clark. I also enjoy solving Sudoku and crossword puzzles.
